We had an incredible week learning and talking about food. Although the students didnt eat anything, we spent our week exploring food from different cultures, learning basic cooking skills, and experimenting with food.
We learned about different kitchen tools and how to use them. We practiced these skills to make witches brew, playdough and slime. By the end of the week, students were able to complete a basic recipe independently. Although the slime didnt turn out, it was a great experience for the students to follow the recipe.
During the week, the students were also challenged to complete different STEM tasks. They were given a problem and using certain supplies they had to complete the task. It was great to see the students work together to complete these tasks. I enjoyed seeing their creativity and problem solving abilities.
I sadly wish that I would have taken more photos. The students completed beautiful First Nation inspired salmon art work, and they had a blast swimming on Friday. They also enjoyed playing Bingo to practice their new food vocabulary and laughed trying to teach me Japanese. Overall, it was a wonderful week and I really enjoyed spending time with the class.
