Primary English: Our Camping Adventures

Our summer adventure week has come to an end! I had such a wonderful time getting to know the students and I enjoyed all the activities that we did together.

Thursday was the start of our camping discussion.  We talked about what is camping, read a story about camping, and sang some Camp Songs.  The students also had a chance to learn about Canada, some of the symbols of Canada, and about where I live.  We talk about how Japan is a small country with lots of people and Canada is a big country with few people, as well as other differences.  The students painted pictures in the style of Ted Harrison, a famous Canadian artist, who focuses on bold colours, lines and Artic scenery.  The students art worked turned out beautifully. It was sent home today, so please have a look. Thursday was also our swimming day.  The students loved splashing in the pool.

Friday, we continued our camping theme.  The students were challenged to build tents out of tooth picks, clay, stickers and a napkin.  Each tent was unique and held up to the wind test.

Overall, it was a wonderful week and I enjoyed my time at Horizon and getting to meet the students.
